These officers say that one language can never be the enemy of another language, but the knowledge of one’s mother tongue and writing and reading in it prides itself.

You can be soulful only in your own language: Dr. Hariom
1997 batch UP cadre IAS officer Dr. Hariom was educated through English medium. He also read English books for the preparation of competitive examinations, prepared political science notes in English, but he was so attached to Hindi that he gave the examination in Hindi only and stood first in his subject in the whole country.

Presently Dr. Hariom is working as Secretary, General Administration, Uttar Pradesh. Apart from working as District Magistrate in 11 districts including Kanpur, Gorakhpur, Moradabad, Saharanpur, Allahabad, Dr. Hariom, who has held the responsibility of many important departments in the government, is equally active in writing.

Apart from being a poet, he is also recognized in the country and the world as a ghazalkar, story writer and famous singer. So far, seven of his books have been published, including two ghazals, two story collections, one poetry collection, one selected ghazal collection and one travelogue. Dr. Hariom says that the initial education took place in a government school, so the foundation was Hindi and being from Amethi, Awadhi was also very much in love. They say that no language is an enemy of another language, but it is very important to learn and work in your mother tongue. Said that you can be intimate in your own language and language should not be seen from the point of view of job.

Dr. Hariom’s singing in a velvety voice enhances his writing even more. I am Sikandar but am a loser… that took him to the top. The album of ghazals written by him Roshni Ke Feather and Rang Ka Dariya has arrived. He has shown his talent in hundreds of forums in the country and abroad. For literary contribution, he has been honored with many awards including Firaq Samman, Rajbhasha Award, Tulsi Shri Samman, Uttar Pradesh Gaurav Samman, International Vatayan Award (London) and Sahitya Shri by Kuwait Hindi-Urdu Society.

The name of IAS Pawan Kumar, who holds the post of Director of Uttar Pradesh Hindi Sansthan, Special Secretary Language and Director of Sanskrit Sansthan, also holds a different place in the world of literature. Pawan Kumar has served as District Collector in Chandauli, Farrukhabad, Sambhal, Saharanpur and Badaun. Pawan Kumar is famous all over the country and abroad for his Hindi-Urdu Ghazals. Many of his books have been published.

While his ghazal collection Wabasta was published in 2012, he edited and compiled ghazal collections called Dastak and Parag Palak Par. After this his another ghazal collection Aahatein was published in 2017 which became very popular. The special thing is that Pawan Kumar’s education was done through English medium but he got success by giving IAS exam through Hindi medium.

Pawan Kumar explains that it is more original to write in his own language, that is why he chose Hindi as the medium of examination. Originally a resident of Mainpuri, Pawan Kumar says that he learned Hindi and English as well as Urdu and Tamil later. They believe that language is the most powerful medium of communication and there is nothing wrong in learning languages, but knowing and speaking in one’s mother tongue gives a different pleasant feeling.

Utensils are made in the memory of him.
The popularity of Hindi-Urdu poetry of Pawan Kumar, who is handling three important departments, is such that his album Vabasta has been embellished by the famous singer Roopkumar Rathore with his voice. Pawan Kumar was honored with Jaishankar Prasad Award in 2013, Zeeshan Maqbool Award and Kanhaiyalal Mishra Prabhakar Award in 2016. In his ghazals, the common man is spoken so easily that he is seen by everyone. In his book Aahatein he writes that –

utensils are made in memory of him
The one who left me by turning on the wheel.

Special Secretary Food and Logistics in Uttar Pradesh Government, Rakesh Mishra has a different identity in the literary world than his Hindi poems. Four of his poetry collections have been published and research work has also been done on his poems. Rakesh Mishra, a PCS of 1993 batch and IAS in 2012, says that he had given the PCS exam with Sanskrit subject.

They tell that they got the culture of Hindi language from Sanskrit itself. It is said that he loved writing poems in Hindi from the very beginning and these poems give him self-satisfaction. His poetry collections ‘Zindagi Ek Particle Hai’, ‘Stuck Gaye Sleep’ and ‘Chalte Rahe Raat Bhar’ have been published which have become very popular.
