The journey to Lucknow will soon be easy. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has made preparations for this. The authority has planned to four-laning the National Highway Authority from Prayagraj to Rae Bareli. In the first phase, a total of 38 km of four lane will be built. For this a tender of Rs.800 crore has been floated. The work will be started from November after finalizing the tender by October.

There is only two lane from Rae Bareli to Prayagraj. It was widened from seven meters to 10 meters two years ago. Shoulders were made on both sides of the road. This increased a few facilities for the people. But, the problem persisted. More than 15,000 vehicles ply on this route daily. Due to the presence of markets in many places, there is a traffic jam every day. The National Highways Authority of India has issued a tender last week to make it four from Rae Bareli to Prayagraj. A total of 95.7 km of the national highway is to be made four-lane. Work has to be done on it in two phases. In the first phase, 38 km of four lane is to be built. 800 crore will be spent on this. The highway will be constructed from Rae Bareli side.

Whereas, land is being acquired after completing the survey work for the second phase of work. The National Highways Authority of India has to complete this project in two years. According to NHAI manager Yogesh Tilak, the work of four lane will start from Jagatpur in Rae Bareli. It will reach Prayagraj via Babuganj, Unchahar, Kunda. Bypasses will also be built at these three places. A total of four bypasses and one link route will be built in the 38-km four-lane.

Three bypasses will be built in Rae Bareli while one will be built near Pratapgarh Lalgopalganj. A link road of 6.5 km will also be built from here, which will connect Sultanpur National Highway No.2. Apart from this, a two-lane bridge will also be built on the Sai river at Unchahar. He said that in this land of three villages of Pratapgarh tehsil and 17 villages of Unchahar tehsil have been acquired. A total of 45 hectares of land has been acquired for the link road. The deadline for submitting the tender has been kept till October 1. After that there will be further process.
