The Government Earned 43 Thousand Crores Rupees From Petrol In Six Months – Petrol-deisel Price

On behalf of the state-owned oil companies, the prices of petrol and diesel have increased for the fifth day today. Today, the price of diesel has increased by 34 to 39 paise, while the price of petrol has increased by 31 to 35 paise. In many states, its price has reached above Rs 100. The rising petrol and diesel prices in the country are affecting the income of the common man.

Petrol in Delhi costs Rs 109.69 while diesel costs Rs 98.42 per litre. The price of petrol in Mumbai is Rs 115.50 and the price of diesel is Rs 106.62 per liter. The price of petrol in Kolkata is Rs 110.15 while the price of diesel is Rs 101.56 per litre. At the same time, in Chennai, petrol is Rs 106.35 a liter and diesel is Rs 102.59 a liter.

Government earned 43 thousand crore rupees from petrol in six months
The government has earned Rs 43,000 crore more in the first half of the current financial year in the form of excise duty on petroleum products. The total excise duty collection on those products increased by 33 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1.71 lakh crore during the period under review. This is 79 percent more than the pre-pandemic level (2019) of 95,930 crores.

The total excise duty collection in April-September of 2020-21 stood at Rs 1.28 lakh crore. According to the data of the Controller General of Accounts (CGA), the government earned a total of Rs 3.89 lakh crore in the form of excise duty on petroleum products in 2020-21. This figure was 2.39 lakh crore in 2019-20 and Rs 2.3 lakh crore in 2018-19.

According to the CGA, the increased excise duty collection on petroleum products in the first half of 2020-21 stood at Rs 42,931 crore. Industry sources say the increased excise duty collection in 2021-22 could be more than Rs 1 lakh crore due to increase in fuel demand coupled with a sharp recovery in the economy. Last year, the excise duty on petrol was increased to Rs 32.9 per liter from Rs 19.98. On diesel it was increased to Rs 31.80 per liter.

Petrol price crosses Rs 100 in these states
Let us inform that the price of petrol has crossed Rs 100 in Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Odisha, Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh. Petrol price is highest in Mumbai.
