Summary

Tata launched it as the HBX concept at the 2020 Auto Expo. Since then it was being speculated that Tata would try its best to live up to its safety ratings as well.

Tata’s new car Tata Punch has received five stars for adult rider safety and four for children in Global NCAP’s latest Safe Cars for India crash test. The punch was tested in accordance with the requirements of NCAP’s voluntary testing process. The Tata Punch is the latest car to be included in the 5-star list of Tata Motors. Tata Nexon and Tata Altroz cars are included in this list.

The micro SUV is going to go on sale from October 20 and its estimated ex-showroom prices can be kept in the range of Rs 5.5 lakh to Rs 8 lakh. The Punch is built on the Alpha (Agile Light Flexible Advanced) platform, on which the premium hatchback Altroz is also built.

David Ward, President, Towards Zero Foundation, said, “We are extremely satisfied with the safety results from Tata in this voluntary test. Global NCAP encourages manufacturers to join our program on a voluntary basis to create a market for security. It is heartening to see top manufacturers like Tata and Mahindra engage with our agenda in such a positive way, he added.
