Tamilnadu Weather Update: Rainfall-forecast in Kerala-coastal Andhra Pradesh

Due to heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, the life of the people has become difficult. There is a possibility of heavy rain in the state even today. The Meteorological Department said that there is a possibility of heavy to very heavy rains in Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal. Along with this, heavy to very heavy rains may occur over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and Rayalaseema and Kerala and Mahe as well. An official of the Meteorological Department told news agency PTI that starting from morning till 9.30 pm on November 9, Karaikkal recorded about 20 cm and Nagapattinam about 15 cm and rain may continue in such areas.

Clouds will rain heavily in these states too
According to the department, thunderstorms are possible over Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam and Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, Kerala and Mahe and Lakshadweep. According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of light to moderate rain in parts of Tamil Nadu, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh in the next five days. The department has said that there will be no significant change in the minimum temperature in the next two days in most parts of Northwest India and adjoining Central India. Thereafter, the minimum temperature may gradually drop by 2-3 degree Celsius.

Two days holiday declared in the state
Tamil Nadu government has declared local holidays on November 10 and 11 in nine districts – Chennai, Kancheepuram, Tiruvallur, Chengalpattu, Cuddalore, Nagapattinam, Thanjavur, Tiruvarur and Mayiladuthurai in view of the weather forecast. In view of heavy rains in the state, Governor RN Ravi has urged the people of Tamil Nadu to remain alert and take precautionary measures in view of the forecast of heavy rains by the India Meteorological Department in the next few days.

According to the Meteorological Department, a cyclonic circulation is persisting over Southeast Bay of Bengal and over neighboring South Andaman Sea. Under its influence, a low pressure area is expected to form over the southeast and adjoining parts of the Bay of Bengal in the next 12 hours. It is very likely to then move west-northwestwards and turn into a depression and reach near north Tamil Nadu coast by the morning of November 11, due to which many areas of the state will get rain.
