Summary

Justice Raman said that while quoting Ramayana and Mahabharata, Justice Raman said that 14 bad qualities of the king have been mentioned in them, the rulers should avoid them.

The country’s Chief Justice NV Raman on Monday said that the rulers should introspect daily whether the decisions taken by them are good. They should also check that they do not have any bad qualities.

This was stated by Chief Justice of the Supreme Court, Justice Raman at the 40th convocation of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of Higher Learning at Puttaparthi in Anantapuramu district of Andhra Pradesh. Quoting Ramayana and Mahabharata, Justice Raman said that in these 14 bad qualities of the king have been mentioned, the rulers should avoid them.

The CJI said that in a democratic system, all the rulers before starting their regular work every day should do self-analysis whether there is any evil in them. There is a need for proper governance in a democracy and it should be according to the needs of the people. Addressing the convocation, Justice Raman said that there are many intelligent people here and they are watching the developments happening in the world and across the country.

Chief Justice Raman said that in a democracy, the people are paramount. Whatever decision the government has taken, they should get the benefit. He wishes that the whole system of the country should be free and honest. Its aim should be to serve the people. Sathya Sai Baba used to say the same thing often.

Unfortunately, the focus of the modern education system is only on utilitarian functions. This system does not induce the students towards moral and spiritual actions, which build the character of the student. These tendencies create social consciousness and a sense of responsibility in them.

Had the privilege of seeing Sathya Sai
Justice Raman said, ‘I have had the privilege of seeing Baba. I always carried his words of wisdom with me. There is no teacher greater than Baba. Sathya Sai means love, service, sacrifice. Baba has shown us the right path. This is enshrined in our rite of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’. Baba’s life should be an inspiration to all.
