Pankaj Kumar, Managing Director of Power Corporation, has expressed displeasure by sending a letter to the Managing Directors of all Power Distribution Corporations in this regard on September 3 and has given instructions to recover the dues. The letter mentions a particular telecom company as the big defaulter. According to the letter, Purvanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam has the highest electricity bill dues of mobile towers. There is a liability of Rs 1176.31 lakh on 556 connections. Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam is at number two.

Connection not disconnected despite orders
The electricity bill of a mobile tower ranges from 10 to 50 thousand rupees. The Corporation has entrusted the responsibility of collecting the electricity bills of the towers to XEN. It is ordered that those who do not pay the bill should be disconnected, but due to nexus with the mobile companies, the electricity supply continues despite the bills remaining.
