Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also attend the G20 leaders’ summit to be held on Tuesday regarding the situation in Afghanistan. The conference, which will be held through virtual medium, is expected to have extensive discussions on the situation in the war-torn country after the Taliban took control of power.

The Ministry of External Affairs said on Monday that Prime Minister Modi will also be a part of this conference. The ministry said that the agenda of this conference includes key issues such as response to humanitarian needs in Afghanistan, the security situation, the fight against terrorism and human rights discussions.

In a statement, the ministry said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the virtual G20 Leaders’ Summit on Afghanistan on October 12 at the invitation of the Italian Presidency of the G20. The conference is being organized by Italy, which is the current President of the G20.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi had participated in the SCO CSTO (Collective Security Treaty Organisation) outreach summit on the situation in Afghanistan last month. At the same time, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar recently attended the G20 Foreign Ministers’ meeting on Afghanistan in New York.
