Giving a big relief to the farmers, the government has fixed the subsidy rates for the first time on molasses potash (PDM). Under the nutrition-based subsidy scheme, the Union Cabinet led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi will give a subsidy of Rs 73 on 50 kg sacks. Fertilizer companies sell this manure to farmers at the rate of Rs 600 to 800 per bag.

The Ministry of Fertilizers and Chemicals said on Thursday that the government will spend about Rs 156 crore annually for subsidy on PDM. This will save Rs 562 crore under foreign exchange. This move will encourage sugar mills to produce more products in the form of molasses, which will be converted into potash.

This step will not only increase the income of the mills, but will also make it easier for the farmers to get timely payment. India currently imports 4.2 million tonnes of mineral-based potash annually, at an expense of ₹7,160 crore. This step will completely eliminate the dependence on imports. Last year, the government had included 22 types of fertilizers including nitrogen, phosphate, potash and sulphur under the nutrition-based subsidy scheme.

The DoT on Thursday approved the proposal of 31 companies under the Production Based Incentive (PLI) scheme. This will bring an initial investment of Rs 3,345 crore. Minister of State for Telecom Divusinh Chouhan said, the investment of Rs 3,345 crore in the next four and a half years is just a beginning.

The government is ready to provide all possible help to the industry. DoT had fixed the PLI for the telecom sector on February 24, 2021. 12,195 crore subsidy will be given in this in five years. The minister said that under the scheme, production of 2.44 lakh crore is expected to increase, while 40 thousand jobs will also be created. For the first time, MSMEs have also been included in the scheme.
