Fourth Strain Of Dengue Being Found In Delhi Hospitals

In the midst of the corona epidemic, now the scope of dengue infection is increasing continuously. For the first time, a fourth strain of dengue infection is also being found in Delhi hospitals, which is simultaneously infecting the entire family or more than one member. Earlier, Delhi AIIMS had confirmed the spread of dengue strain 2 i.e. D-2. But now both types of strains are being found in hospitals, which doctors are considering as very serious.

Dr. Suresh Kumar, Director, Loknayak Hospital, Delhi Government, says that there are four strains of dengue infection, out of which the second and fourth can be very serious and fatal. At present, both the strains are being found in infected patients. Although there is also a situation that 200 to 300 patients with fever and other symptoms are coming to the OPD every day but not all dengue affected are being found. They can also be viral or other types of seasonal diseases. Since the symptoms of all these diseases are almost the same, there is no need for the patient to panic.

In fact, dengue infection has increased a lot in Delhi. Delhi is also included in the top nine states of the country where the maximum number of dengue cases are being reported since September. Because of this, the system of hospitals has also faltered. ‘Amar Ujala’ has been continuously exposing the reality of government claims for the past several weeks due to lack of resources along with live reports from hospitals and beds.

Fourth strain found in a person in Ram Manohar Lohia
The fourth strain of dengue has been found in a 59-year-old man at the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital in New Delhi, who has to be admitted to the ICU. Due to non-availability of beds in the hospital for about three days, the patient’s condition kept deteriorating, but in the end, when one bed was vacant, the doctors immediately shifted the patient. Doctors say that the patient’s condition remains critical.

300 patients are coming daily
Senior Dr. SP Biotra of Sir Ganga Ram Hospital says that we have been working for the last one and a half years more than what we have, but first Corona and now Dengue has changed the whole system. At present, more than 300 suspected dengue, viral, malaria, chikungunya, common flu or covid suspects are coming to them every day. Only a few of these are getting their beds as the hospital is completely full at this point of time.
