In the program organized on the successful completion of four years of operation of Lucknow Metro, Chief Secretary Rajendra Kumar Tiwari said that there is a need for further expansion of the metro network to ease the traffic.
State Chief Secretary Rajendra Kumar Tiwari, the chief guest of the function, congratulated the entire metro team on the successful completion of 4 years of metro operation services and said that it needs to be expanded further to ease the traffic in urban areas. Amrita Soni, Secretary, Housing, Uttar Pradesh also participated in the programme.
Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) Managing Director Kumar Keshav along with all the directors and other senior officers attended the program. Along with this, Durga Shankar Mishra, Chairman of UPMRC and Secretary, Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, Government of India, through video conferencing also made his presence felt in the program and sent his best wishes to UPMRC.
On this occasion, congratulating all the members of the Metro family and wishing them good luck for the future, Managing Director Kumar Keshav said that four years ago, on this day, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had flagged off the Metro. Over the years, many achievements have been registered in their names, crossing all the challenges. We have rapidly improved our ridership despite the impact of Metro operations for 7 months due to Kovid-19. Kanpur and Agra metro project are very ambitious projects for us.
We have completed the trial run of Kanpur Metro project in just 2 years before the scheduled. At the same time, he said that like Lucknow, efforts would be made to get IGBC platinum certification for IGBC platinum certification from the beginning of nine stations of Priority Corridor in Kanpur. On the occasion of Metro Day, Chief Secretary Rajendra Kumar Tiwari said that on behalf of the government, I congratulate the UP Metro for working diligently and diligently. Lucknow Metro has created high standards with the passage of time in the last 4 years. He also said that the DPR of Gorakhpur Metro is likely to get approval from the cabinet soon.
In this direction, the Uttar Pradesh government is working fast, as well as the government is moving in this direction to start the work of Meerut and Varanasi Metro projects. Appealing to Durga Shankar Mishra, he said that for more metro projects in Uttar Pradesh, along with better financing, relaxation in terms and conditions should be considered. There is a need to expand the metro network to facilitate urban traffic at the same pace as the construction of expressways, railways, airports is progressing.
