Farmers, traders and small consumers who are unable to pay the electricity bill during the Corona period can soon get the gift of one-time settlement scheme (OTS). In a high-level meeting, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath directed to prepare and present the format of OTS in two days to give 100% exemption from surcharge in electricity bills to farmers, traders and small consumers. He instructed the officials that the consumers should not be harassed in any way on the dues.

It is worth noting that last week the Chief Minister had announced the implementation of OTS to provide relief on electricity arrears in his interaction with the farmers. Power Corporation was preparing OTS for the farmers only. Meanwhile, the State Electricity Consumer Council had made a demand to bring small domestic consumers and traders affected by Corona under the purview of OTS.

This decision of the government will give relief to a large number of such consumers who could not pay the electricity bill during the Kovid period.
