The Andhra Pradesh government has decided to repeal the law paving the way for three capital cities. According to the information, the Advocate General of Andhra Pradesh State Subrahmanyam Sriram has informed the High Court about the government’s decision to withdraw the controversial laws.

The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development (Repeal) Act was passed by the previous Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government in 2015 to terminate the right to develop Amaravati as the state capital. The AP Decentralization and Inclusive Development of All Regions Act was passed to establish executive, judicial and legislative capitals at Visakhapatnam, Kurnool and Amaravati.
