Amar Ujala Hindi Hain Hum Competition Gaurav Mishra Short Movie Mathe Ki Bindi Won First Prize

Young filmmaker Gaurav Mishra’s film ‘Mathe Ki Bindi’ has been selected for the best film award of Rs 5 lakh in the Amar Ujala ‘Hindi Hain Hum’ short film competition. Filmmakers whose films have been shortlisted for five other awards of Rs 1 lakh each include Shambhav Pandey’s Bookworm, Shivendra Pratap Singh’s Thanks, Latitude Yogeshwar’s Cow, Naveen Agarwal’s Sukoon and Yashvardhan Goswami’s Mother Tongue.

They were selected by a high level jury on the criteria of central idea, cinematic language and overall creative impact. More than one thousand entries were received for consideration under this short film competition. Films of Gyanendra Pratap Singh (Jaa Nahi Payenge Aapne), Naman Rathi (Translator: Ek Kahaani), Surya Kumar Gupta (Angrezi Jalebi), Saurabh Kumar (Newspaper), Ravi Kumar Arya (The Last Attempt) were nominated under special mention. Huh.

The filmmakers who were considered for commendable effort by the judges included SR Shah, Prateek Tripathi, Yogesh Arora, Prakhar Vishwani, Shantanu Sindhu and Arvind Kumar. The internal jury consisted of four subject experts and the external jury for the final decision was represented by Megha Tata, Managing Director (South Asia), Discovery Communications India. Soon, the premiere of these films will be held in a special ceremony where the winners will be honoured.
