A high-level meeting of the Defense Ministry is being held on Tuesday ahead of the proposed visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to India on December 5. In this, the finalization of the contract for AK-203 assault rifle will be considered. The agreement includes a proposal to produce 7.5 lakh AK-203 rifles in Amethi, Uttar Pradesh.

Russian parts will be in the first 70 thousand rifles consignment
Defense sources said that this agreement was agreed between the two countries a few years ago. Now only the issue of technology transfer of this rifle remains to be resolved. He said that the Indian Army will procure 7.5 lakh AK-203 rifles. Of these, the first 70,000 rifle consignments will consist of parts made in Russia, as technology transfer will be gradual. These 70 thousand rifles will be supplied in 32 months from the start of production.
