Abhijeet has been greatly influenced by late Bollywood singer Kishore Kumar. He sang hundreds of songs of Kishore Kumar in his own voice. In the 90s, when the coin of Kumar Sanu and Udit Narayan was going on, Abhijeet’s song ‘Vada Raha Sanam’ became a super hit. This song was picturized on Akshay Kumar. Hit songs one after the other included Abhijeet in the list of most famous singers of that era. Not only this, Abhijeet was one of the highest paid singers.

Many times Abhijeet becomes a part of the news because of his controversies more than his songs. His enmity with Shahrukh Khan is well known. In an interview, he had said – I have made superstars with my voice. Till the time I used to sing for Shahrukh Khan, he was a rockstar but when I stopped singing for him, he switched to lungi dance. There is a small reason for not singing for Shahrukh. In ‘Main Hoon Na’, he gave credit to everyone from Spotboy but did not give respect to Singer. The same thing happened with Om Shanti Om. I had a voice in the song Dhum Tana but it was not shown anywhere. It hurt my self-esteem.

Shahrukh Khan’s voice is called

For Shahrukh, Abhijeet sang the song ‘Badi Mushkil Hai Khoya Mera Dil Hai’ from the movie ‘Anjaam’. The song became such a hit that he was called the voice of Shahrukh. He lent his voice for Shahrukh in many films like ‘Yes Boss’, ‘Josh’, ‘Badshah’, ‘Phir Bhi Dil Hai Hindustani’, ‘Chalte Chalte’ and ‘Main Hoon Na’. Abhijeet has received many awards.
